Brave Galaxy is set in a world loosely based on Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail and Eden’s Zero. It is a PG-13 or so rated space fantasy RP, and uses a combination of character statistics, which can be acquired via roleplaying and events, and creative freedom to help direct players’ characters. While there is a main storyline, which can be found in the events section, characters are free to interact with others and their environment however they see fit.
Explore the galaxy. Overcome the obstacles in your path. Shape the future of humanity.
"You were all alone, drinking. Being drunk makes people, even strong people, weak." The pretence of childish silliness had fallen away. It was rare in Emily for that to happen, but Leo was different. He'd seen a part of her and she wanted him to see more, to see into the heart of her.
Laughing, she said, "Of course it gets boring, but being in jail is even more boring. I target more important people alone, what's gonna happen? You think I don't want to go after more? I want so much more!"
Now that same hungry gleam came into her eyes as had been there earlier, the same expression of an extreme and dark need that flickered from some inner place that no one else could ever see. It only shone through now because of who Leo was and what he was saying. Instinctively the crimson-haired, lean young woman forced herself back into the present moment, pushing down that dark flower that had begun to bloom in her mind.
A spasm of anger passed over her face at what Leo had said but she bit back the snarl to reply. "I'd love employment by those who'd pay but I just...got here so I have no idea who they..."
Leo's explanation had begun and as she spoke, she began to nod and her face split into a wide smile that only grew wider as he continued.
"Cardinal Enigma you say? Sounds interesting! I do catch your drift. Tell me more about this offshoot and where I might contact them?"
Now those green eyes of hers gleamed like emeralds and a certain eagerness had come into her voice and posture as she listened with rapt attention to what her companion had to say.
"Hmph. You started our conversation far too early, then; I'm afraid I'm not exactly a lightweight," he replied. Not that her tactic would have been effective even if he were truly intoxicated, Leo probably would have been too busy laughing his ass off or just straight up passed out to follow her outside the bar - he was, well, typically a cheerful drunk. Distanced from his own memories and intrusive thoughts, yes, what a pleasant experience that was. He was abruptly reminded that Emily had taken his opportunity to pursue such that night away, vexation brushed away by both his rationale and the frightening, electrifying possibility of what might instead transpire.
He blinked once at jail, such a polite word for such a horrible place. But more importantly, Leo couldn't help but laugh as his hint passed completely over her head. "Oh, no no no. Cardinal Enigma, for as much of a pain in the ass they might be, is a local organization; their reach is quite limited. As for the offshoot, unless you want to die tonight I wouldn't recommend it," Leo stated, before glancing upward into the night sky. Barely a sliver of a colossal skyscraper could be seen from the alley, but he recognized the distinct edge immediately, pointing in its direction. "The Intergalactic Mercenary Guild is the organization I'm a part of, or IMG for short. It doesn't exactly sound like a place for mass murderers, but there are... less legitimate branches. The Assassins' Branch is probably most relevant to your pursuits, although you would be free to peruse the other factions, were you to become a member."
His arm dropped, an easy smile apparent on his visage. "That's where the splinter group comes into play, we don't want them around anymore. You seem due for some entertainment tonight, and if you do well... perhaps consider it your audition." Leo briefly flashed a card from his wallet, clearly some form of identification colored in greens with a stamp of unusual gold. Without waiting for a true response, he then turned to leave, destination already in mind as his patience grew thin, a mad desire brought forth in its stead.
Emily giggled. "No. You're not what you seem anyhow, Leo. I don't know what you are, but it isn't what I thought."
At least the topic of conversation had shifted to something much more substantive and meaningful. They weren't dancing around, now they'd cut right into the heart of the matter. Dancing was alright as far as it went, but this was like a knife across the throat, direct and to the point. Perhaps enough of her real nature had been revealed to this man who she'd once known a literal age ago. Perhaps somewhere a distant memory about her was stirring. Whatever the case was, things weren't starting to heat up in a positive way.
The redhead's chartreuse green eyes were flickering with a mad light as the possibilities were laid out in front of her, like a feast. It was so difficult to know where to begin as there was a great deal of choice. However, Emily forced focus from herself, bending all of her will towards what Leo was saying. It sounded pretty bloody good, so she decided she had better confirm but Leo was already moving.
Jogging to catch up, she glanced across at his unreadable face and grinned. "Right! Audition! I'm up for that."
The bloodlust was rising in her, flowing through her as it animated every part of her. This was truly what she loved and revelled in and it was being offered to her on a plate.

"Let's see...." Leo muttered as he walked, registering Emily's pace beside him although not acknowledging her presence directly. No, his gaze was focused ahead, scanning the streets as he turned once, then again, weaving through the shadows with a practiced expertise that betrayed his familiarity with the capital. He had witnessed its construction, after all, the gradual expansion of the metropolis to the natural borders of the canyon it was nestled in and then beyond, carving into the bedrock.
Their destination was an innocuous front, an apartment building with dried out husks of flora hanging from planters above, yet a red stripe marked its identity, or at least had only a few weeks beforehand. Scrubbed clean was the paint, the degradation of tone clear to his eyes despite the darkness. "Here we are," he stated. "Their hideout runs underground, across this whole block. A stairwell in this building leads down to it, apparently." Leo was merely reciting information he had learned around a week before, attending some meeting that he had been distracted from for the majority of the time. Apparently something had stuck, though it was possible he had actually been in the complex when it was a part of Cardinal Enigma. It was too hard to keep the memories straight, in the end.
His hand fell on the door handle, turning it slightly. Before Leo pressed inside, however, he glanced back at Emily. He didn't trust her, no, but he did trust her dedication to violence, her urge to bathe in blood. And more of it would be had if she didn't kill him, therefore it was in her best interest not to. Or, at least, that was his thought process. Given her unhinged nature, he doubted whether or not she would be able to be able to rationalize such, but regardless she... didn't pose enough of a threat for Leo to truly be concerned.
"I can't imagine they'll be happy seeing a member of IMG showing up at their doorstep, among other things. If I pretend to be your prisoner," he paused, chuckling at the notion, "we may be able to get further into the complex before wreaking havoc. I'd much rather that than charging in blind, but you'll have to play the part." From his pocket he produced a roll of gauze, not a particularly convincing prop but perhaps Emily would be able to improve upon it some, before holding his wrists out together. "Don't worry about how I'll get out, just try your best. Maybe punch me once or twice and try to obscure your face a bit more, no offense but your physique isn't... particularly convincing." Leo's voice was nonchalant, as if he had acted out similar scenarios a thousand times before. The truth wasn't far from it.
Emily's bright green eyes traced over every detail, seemingly drinking them in and absorbing them. The unfocused light in her eyes wasn't there as she cocked her head to one side, listening as Leo talked and keeping her face neutral, lips pressed together in concentration. The building was plain but Emily mused to herself that things were better when they hid in plain sight. She let her companion give the full run down, even as he gave her a look that was, at the very least, rather dismissive. His glance back was assessing and a more sensitive person might have found it uncomfortable.
After being handled the gauze, Emily roughly grabbed Leo's wrists and began aggressively wrapping him with the gauze after tugging his arms hard behind him, pulling it tight and making sure it looked like it was cutting in enough. She didn't need to be told twice and she wound up and gave him a relatively hard right cross, cutting his cheekbone a little and she added one more straight punch to his nose to make it bleed. "There. That should do."
To finish the process, the redhead began marching him down the stairwell with Blood's Tear stuck against his back. The great black serrated blade sat there heavily against him, giving the impression that with one shove it would have cut right into his back. They stopped in front of the entrance and a window in a metal door opened as a gruff voice asked, "Who is it? What do you want?"
Emily shouted back. "Gotta prisoner here! One of them IMG bastards!"

Even as Emily struck, he could tell they would have to hurry, for the blows she had dealt had already begun to mend. Such was his life, however, make-up tended to be far superior when it came to disguises, for a myriad of factors, but they didn't have that sort of time; a part of Leo didn't even want to take such tedious precautions in regard to what they were already doing. He allowed himself to be shoved around by her petite frame, however, it was entertaining if nothing else. Then again, her binding of his forearms was quite tight, there would have been some cause for concern for it not for that recent revelation. Cold steel pressed into his back, no doubt her own utensil wielded once more. Yet the dread apparent on his visage as they approached the stairwell was only an act, although certainly an amusing one to portray.
As Emily spoke the guard's eyes glazed over, a mix of annoyance and sheer apathy clouding his judgement. "Well, come i- wait, oh, it's you," the man sneered in Leo's direction, finally acknowledging the situation, before addressing Emily properly. "Nice catch."
Leo resisted the urge to grin, instead muttering softly to her as the man went to open the door. "Apparently, I'm rather infamous." It wasn't necessarily arrogance, more so an... observation. Neither was it a surprise, although he had figured it could swing either way. In any case, the offshoot's demise was set in stone as soon as the door was opened, its gatekeeper welcoming them inside. A dilapidated basement it truly was, dimly lit - although Leo preferred that over the alternative - and dust collecting in every corner and on the tattered remains of tapestries that had once burned a brilliant vermillion. A short hallway led into a large, open area, thugs milling about and nursing injuries from what looked like a recent conflict. Good, they were already weak. They crossed the area into another hall, and at last the guard pushed open a set of rough hewn doors, revealing a pitiful attempt at some sort of throne room.
A figure sat upon a raised pedestal, a young man who was attempting to assert regal authority. It was a laughable sight, an utter fool believing in some imperial might while his palace was decaying before his very eyes. He was the sort of individual Leo had expected to have broken away from Cardinal Enigma, a strategy that hadn't gotten him far, apparently. The man opened his mouth to speak, but before he could do so Leo interrupted, not even wanting to hear his undoubtedly sniveling voice.
"Now I'll give you one warning, scurry back over to Cardinal Enigma and nobody will die tonight." He didn't want to say that, not really, but Leo knew he was obliged. Still were a variety of firearms drawn throughout the room, both from the man who had escorted them in and two guards at their leader's side. And of course he had to open his trap.
"You're in no position to make that threat!"
Leo raised his eyebrows even as the guards approached. "Aww, how cute, thinking your little toys can save you," he replied, corner of his mouth morphing into a smirk. Within an instant his hands were free, black staining the gauze that fell to the floor, torn apart by the set of claws now pronounced on his right hand. Before they could react with gun fire, however, he pulled said weapons toward him, engulfed in shade. So easy, no, too easy. All he really wanted to see was their blood, one step, another, closing in.
Nyctingenia - 2 From Leo’s fingertips coagulates shadows, nails extending into dripping claws. Coating a single limb in darkness, he is capable of dealing additional moderate damage to all he strikes with his ingenia, although the spell also extends to blunt damage dealt with the chosen limb. Leo can change the limb afflicted once per post, lower extremities included if he so chooses.
Endrnimanz - 4 By wreathing an object in shadows, Leo is capable of levitating it with his mind, travelling at a maximum Speed and Power of 40. He can influence up to 4 non-living objects this way, though their total weight cannot exceed 50 kilograms, neither can items opponents possess that are B-class or greater be manipulated. Once they are 20 meters away, any items fall out of the reach of his dominion. Endrimanz has a duration of 3 posts, and a cooldown of the same.
From under her cloak, Emily's wrist flicked and one of her throwing knives flashed through the air, embedding itself with a meaty thud in the man's throat. He made a ghastly gurgling noise and staggered backwards, clutching at his throat as the blood seeped between his fingers. Oxygen cut off, he thrashed and gurgled for a while before laying still, as a manic smile had plastered itself all over the delicate-seeming redhead's pretty face.
Blood's Tear was in her hand now and she ran, center of gravity low, the blade ready to lash out at the next guard in front of her. She angled at him as he turned to face her, looking somewhat stunned, but a laugh was on her lips as that serrated blade extended and aimed to disembowel the man. The blood lust was on her now and she howled in a strange inhuman cry as she looked for the next target. Leo had given her the chance to be unleashed and nothing would slake her thirst.
Her awareness was clouded and she failed to notice the guard with a stout length of chain had come in low and from the side, whacking her in the legs and knocking her off balance. She stumbled, her balance and quick reflexes saving her from more disaster, but she was off balance and off guard as the guard rushed her with a sword drawn. Blood's Tear came up to parry but the blow still threw her sideways as the man came at her.

Yes, Emily was a skilled killer, he could see that now. Unfortunately, it was only for a few moments that he observed her actions, his own desires too strong to overcome. While the guards rushed them both, she seemed more than capable of handling the first as he had broke free, the others soon swarming the apparently more dangerous threat, as she had been the first to draw blood. Fools, all of them, for in their struggle for survival they neglected that which they were supposed to protect. The leader on his peasant throne was wide open, and Leo did not hesitate to close the distance, shadows empowering his strides. Before the man could react his trachea was ripped out, the wrenching of flesh tangible in his grip. A life withering away, embraced by the void, Leo could not help but relish in it, the pain, the emptiness. His gaze lingered on the corpse for a moment, another. However, the instinctual craving for bloodshed won over, and his eyes soon fell on the final combatant in the room. With a flick of a finger Calamitas materialized, its darkened blade embedding itself into the final guard's rib cage.
A moment later the sword was extracted, summoned back into his hand. His gait took him down the steps, an unhurried pace as he headed toward the door. Yes, Leo wanted to savor the chaos, he was in no rush now that the task had begun. And, of course, there was still the matter of Emily's... evaluation, although he had brushed such aside in favor of merely keeping her alive. "I'd advise you not get too close to my magic," was all he mustered as a warning, before pushing the double doors open in a grand fashion, a smirk catching the corner of his mouth as all eyes in the compound fell upon him. Weapons drawn, some charged while others hung back.
Leo hesitated, before he brought Calamitas down upon the weathered concrete. Crackling, black energy danced across it, fracturing stone and bone alike in its deadly welcome. Bodies thrown up into air, some hitting the ceiling with a resounding thud, he watched it all with twisted glee, only averting his gaze to dive deeper into the compound, eliminating all survivors in his wake.
Svifagryn - 2 Accelerating through shadows, Leo is capable of dashing up to 10 meters away at an additional 20 Speed comparative to the value of the statistic at any given moment. This dash is situational in categorization, and can be used once per post.
Vokius - 5 Reaching out to the void that had long ago devoured most of Calamitas’s blade, Leo is capable of reforming a shadowy replica of it which appears to have an almost indefinite edge, although this is far from the case as the darkness takes on a durability identical to the rest of the sword itself. Lengthening Calamitas altogether to 45”, every strike with the extended part of the blade also deals severe damage to whoever or whatever the target may be, excluding Leo himself. Duration of 4 posts, cooldown of 2 posts. Alternatively, Leo may choose to simply form the blade itself without additional damage, in which case Vokius has an infinite duration, although once dismissed it still endures a cooldown of 2 posts. Alternative form taken.
Eretheos - 5 Making contact with the ground, whether it be directly or through a weapon enchanted with Eretheos that is not more than 50 meters away, Leo is capable of shattering the surface with black, slicing energy. Forming a cone with an angle of 60°, a length of 40 meters, and a height of 20 meters, severe damage is dealt to all within the area - those with a Toughness less than or equal to 50 being thrown off their feet. Cooldown of 2 posts.
In a vaulting backwards somersault, Emily threw herself well out of the way, barely avoiding the tide of dark magic that washed all around her. There was a moment where she could almost taste the terror of all those falling, stumbling and dying men and it brought another twisted smile to the redhead's pretty face. The way that tide of darkness flowed and moved around the room was a physical thrill to the young woman and she was quite content to stay clear of the tendrils of destruction that her deadly companion was throwing out from himself in waves. She also saw the rag doll form of the leader sitting dead in his throne and actually had to stop herself from licking her lips.
In the wake of this destruction, the crimson-haired woman ran behind Leo, watching him destroy everything as he went. She could do this for hour upon hour, relishing the pleasure that she took from seeing all of that murder and suffering that he was spreading. The only thing that made her a little more than a little jealous was the fact that she wasn't able to participate as keenly in the murderous activities as she would have liked. Still, at least she could offer some color commentary, so that wasn't a complete loss.
She yelled up to Leo. "Hey that's some really nifty magic! Those guys all look pretty dead! I hope that I can learn to do that kind of thing. THAT's the reason I'm tagging along with you, you know. I can get so much info from you. So what's next? Need me to kill anyone?"

"This isn't all there is to the complex."
It was all he offered in response, a cold, callous tone. His blade had consumed the blood spilled, but it was not yet slaked; his nails dug into his palm, a closer intimacy desired. Restraint was slipping away from his grasp, a faint echo, dispersed into the void. Leo knew he should stop, before he lost the ability to do so. Yet the darkened hallway that branched from the ruined foyer called out to him, life ebbing from it, a black symphony. With a steady stride he approached, shadows clinging to his form. It was a long corridor, yet voices were caught upon the stone walls, hushed uttering, strange cries for some sort of mercy. He failed to comprehend the sentiment, even as a particularly brave soul charged down the dimly lit passage. Leo let him have the hope of a victory, closing in at ten meters, five, yet as the man's sword was raised he batted it aside, left hand darting out to brush against his temple. In that instant the man's mind was tormented, a shrill note released although it was soon cut short as Leo plunged Calamitas into his chest.
Thus his blade steadied, directed at the other individuals, who, upon seeing their peer felled, had begun to rush forward of their own volition. They had no opportunity to close the gap, however, as an obsidian sphere condensed from the similarly hued point of Leo's sword, soon shot off in their direction, an ever brief delay before it detonated, darkness ripping into flesh and masonry alike. Whatever remained of the complex's wing began to give way, its support crumbling under the weight of the street above. Even if one of the thugs had managed to survive his blow, they would be crushed under the inevitable strain, slowly suffocating as they willed it all to end. Still, he could not help but pause, admire his own handiwork, even as rubble began to fall upon himself.
Reason called out. Enough. With that, Leo snapped out of it, taking two steps slowly before he backpedaled, sprinting back toward the entrance of the basement of sorts. "Don't get buried," he said, attention briefly flitting to Emily although there was little concern evident in his words.
Malifel - 2 Darkness is a force that seeps beyond the physical realm, into the unknown. By harnessing such aspect of the element, Leo is capable of dealing moderate psychological damage to a target he makes direct contact with, up to once per post. During and for the post after Malifel is cast, techniques and cantrips count as one rank below written for the purpose of calculating magical exhaustion.
Pytsphaira - 5 Forming a condensed umbral sphere a few inches from a point on his person - whether it be a weapon, finger, or similar - Leo can fire such in a straight line of dark energy, continuing on for up to 120 meters. Upon contact with something, Pytsphaira will explode, dealing severe damage to the target and all within the blast radius of 20 meters, although if extended to its maximum range only serious damage will be dealt to those between 10 and 20 meters from the impact. Cooldown of 2 posts.
