It could have been minutes or hours, an eternity or no time at all. The glassy surface was all that seemed to exist, reflecting the constellations of his past nearly as well as the ocean previous, save for one factor. Cracks marred its surface, scars acquired in some unknown battle prior. They were indeed flaws, but in some way the lapse from the monotony was better, except for perhaps the shards of obsidian that decided to embed themselves into the soles of his boots. The only other feature to focus on was the ever-looming shape in the distance, after all, and constant study of the pyramid was only bound to drive him mad. The horizon slowly neared, yes, but it was an indeterminate struggle, no definite distance to it nor an alternative in sight.
That was at least the case until took a step forward, another, the haze so incremental that Leo did not recognize he was in the thick of it until he could see nothing at all. He glanced back, and yet there was nothing but black mist, the irony of course was thick. He attempted to set his course in the same line as before, but it was impossible. His sense of direction was not impeccable to begin with, much less in some warped reality where everything was too surreal, devoid of features but all pervading regardless. Worse yet, the darkness was so disturbingly empty, no life sustained within it except his own. He wandered aimlessly, likely steering himself in circles although Leo had no way to tell, he couldn't exactly see after all.
At least he now understood that helplessness of others in the night, although no terror accompanied simply because, well, a part of him would always find it calming, regardless of any unusual circumstance. Still, it was useless to repeat the same thing, and although he had no way of verifying his intuition Leo had a feeling there was more to navigating through the shadows than pure chance. Clearing it, perhaps, why hadn't he thought about that up until that moment? He held a hand out, attempting the brush aside the fog with his will alone. Within a few moments it was apparent that it was not working, at least from a visual perspective. Something flickered to life from behind, however, though it was more so an imitation of it. Any sign was better than nothing, however, and thus he pursued it to the breaking of the cloud, the temple that greeted him all too familiar.
The pools of blood remained, although he could now see their origins rather than simply fading into obscurity. Both stone lebaims likewise sat inert, although he almost thought their poses were different from the night before. Then again, his memory was flimsy enough that it was likely just his mind playing tricks on him. There were two stark contrasts to the abyssal pyramid, however, the first being that the door was slotted shut, unwelcoming of his presence. The second was the apex of the structure, its pyramidion exuding tenebrosity that likely was the source of its shroud. It couldn't go any worse than before, he supposed, and thus Leo began his approach, grip firmly placed upon his sword.
Though not sentient, the pyramid held within it ancient arcane power that could feel and react to stimuli. The stimulus it was feeling now, was Leo. Its own darkness, that swirled about as if dancing on the wind (Despite there being none), called out to Leo. It was eager to accept him, although it wouldn't give up its secrets easily.
Upon the door (Once Leo reached it) was an inscription. It hadn't been there before, but circumstances were different this time.
"Make us Whole.
In your struggles and failures, remember You Are Not Alone.
All Darkness is Connected.
Upon this door, use what you have Learned.
Passage will be granted when the Two Halves Meet."
As Leo reads the inscription, the magic of the pyramid will call to him once again. It invokes a feeling of...familiarity.

Each step he took was wary, aware of the consequences faced previous. All was still, however, there was only one center, one focal point. It called to him, the pull more forceful than before but at the same time it was gentle, he was prepared. Yes, the confusion and bewilderment from before no longer was present, Leo now viewed his purpose with a new clarity. Perhaps that was why there was no flood threatening to drown him anymore, no voice screaming into his mind, commanding him forward. He had to enter of his own volition; it was the only way. Yet as he approached the temple remained sealed, inert. Then he noticed the inscription upon the door, scarring what had once been blank.
Leo considered the riddle. At first the solution was obvious, yet there had to be more. Perhaps the emphasis meant something, yet in the odd capitalization there was a solid one vowel, and the only word that made that seemed relevant was maw. No, that wasn't it. Maybe the fifth line referred to the statues, hearkening back to his past, but again that was so out of the blue that he doubted such could be the case. The simple answer it was, then.
He knocked, and from his fist did darkness spread.
Endrnimanz - 5 By wreathing an object in shadows, Leo is capable of levitating it with his mind, travelling at a maximum Speed and Power of 50. He can influence up to 5 non-living objects this way, though their total weight cannot exceed 70 kilograms, neither can items opponents possess that are A-class or greater be manipulated. Once they are 25 meters away, any items fall out of the reach of his dominion. Endrimanz has a duration of 4 posts, and a cooldown of 2 posts.
As Leo's magic spread across the door the of the pyramid, the darkness that surrounded him seemed to move closer. The stone greedily absorbed the shadowy spell, but it still did not budge.
In response to Leo's effort, the darkness called to him again. Whispers that did not form coherent words, but instead carried an emotion.

He hadn't recognized it before, the encompassing shadows that had seemed close in further as he had projected darkness upon the entrance, to no avail. At first, Leo thought the fervent voices were urging for more, yet he paused midway through the cleave he had begun with the broken blade of Calamitas, taking the time to reread the words upon the door. There were two halves, yes, but he had been wrong on which needed to be connected, had tried to restring the wrong key. It was not the temple that needed to accept, it had never been.
Leo closed his eyes, reaching out into the darkness. He breathed in, opening his mind to the murky depths, carrying the same sentiment. Despite some part of him begging against it, he had to know the truth, needed the answers he sought and knew they would only be found ahead. Thus, he welcomed the abyss. It flooded over him, but it was not harsh, more like a strange, lost lost friend, wanting to catch up. How comforting, but the door still wasn't open. Perhaps it did want more after all, and thus his arm completed the sweep he had previously halted, its resonance far more striking than before as shadows latched onto the stone.
Now that the magic from the surroundings and Leo himself had coalesced into a singular mass, the feeling it gave off was now one of contentment. The darkness enveloped the door top to bottom, masking it in an inky void.
"Welcome." A familiar voice said. The sound came from within the pyramid. The words seemed to pass through the darkness of the door. "Don't just stand there, boy. Come on in. There is lots to learn."
Once Leo figured out to walk through the void that covered the door, he would find himself at the start of a very long corridor. The interior would have been pitch black, if it wasn't for the eerie blue glow of torches that lined the walls. Beneath Leo was a walkway that had a sloshing black liquid on either side. At the far end of the walkway was a shadow of a figure. In the blink of an eye, the shadow disappeared. There was but one way to go, where the shadow had been. Another large door. Fortunately this one had no tricks to open. It was merely two slabs of onyx, that would take some force to push open.
After traveling through the long corridor and opening the doors, Leo would find himself in a massive open room, with a ceiling that seemed to be limitless. Lining either side of the room were massive columns that all featured a blue flame torch mounted on them. The slick stone floor reflected the light of the flames, casting an azure wash across the otherwise black room. At the far end of the room was a singular throne made of jagged onyx. Upon that throne sat the vision of his father.

The sudden calm was immanent. Its pervasive presence was almost enough to put him on guard, in fact, almost. It was the realization of why it felt so strange that struck a chord in him the most, however. It had been so long, too long, since he had truly been at ease. Between his exaggerated and genuine fear, running around the galaxy with no sane intent in mind, it was nearly unsettling to bear the tranquility. It was not as if he had returned to his emotional state a few months prior, though, when all had been relatively well. No, it was something Leo had long since forgotten, completion. And in that moment, he could most certainly get used to it.
Despite himself, despite the gravity the atmosphere itself portrayed, he couldn't help but offer a single note of laughter as the voice at the entrance spoke, so it was the location that mattered after all. Then again, compared to before - however many hours had passed - there was something different, as if it had been unlocked by the temple itself. Why hadn't he felt it previously, then, had so much truly changed? Leo could not answer the questions he posed, didn't really contemplate them beyond their surface level in reality. No, the instinctive drive to move forward blotted out any rational concern he would normally have, and thus he plunged into the void.
As he emerged upon the other side, Leo was surprised to see the pyramid had shifted its interior entirely since the night before. Instead of a wide, cracked expanse it was a narrow corridor, instead of red the color scheme was lit in blue. Other than the narrowness, he didn't mind, especially since the door hadn't changed shut behind him; he wasn't even sure if the stone slab even existed at that point, or if it had been consumed. Regardless, the flicker of the silhouette ahead beckoned him forward, although granted he didn't exactly have another direction to pick from. Soon enough Leo was at another entrance, this time a set of doors. Given that no inscription was contained within the onyx sheen, he decided to simply try them, to little more than a budge. Of course, minerals weren't exactly light. He attempted to open it again, this time using his back and body weight to lean into one of the pair. It slowly creaked open, and as he stumbled into the massive space Leo just managed to catch himself before he fell.
The same theme persisted from the hall previous, yet it was all magnified on a grander scale. Far off in the distance was the visage he had hoped to see once more, though the throne Alastair was seated upon was not the sight he had expected. Leo knew instantly what it symbolized, however, an ever slight sliver of dread seeping into his mind. "So now you'll teach me," he managed to remark despite it, glancing about the throne room to avert his eyes from the focal point. "What changed?"
"I merely said there is much to learn. I never said I would be the one to teach you."
With a laugh and a wave of his hand, shadows flooded the area like waves of water. The darkness swept in from the left and right sides of the room, from beyond the columns. As the darkness filled the room, the dim light from the blue flame torches was just barely a flicker.
"My role here is merely to observe." The man trailed off, leading to a brief silence before continuing his words. "And push you in the right direction occasionally. " He laughed dryly, finding himself more amusing than he likely was.
By the end of the man's words, the shadows had formed a massive swirling orb with Leo in the center. The feeling of the flow of darkness was almost like being submerged in water. Currents pulled at Leo from every direction, although his body remained in place. The most unsettling part of it all, was that it was icy cold.
"Now endure."
The pulling and pushing of the darkness all of a sudden picked up in strength, forcing Leo to resist its effect, lest he be at the mercy of the currents. It was at this time as well, that he felt a presence in his mind, calling to him, much like the darkness from outside of the structure.

There was something cold, calculated, unlike before. Even Alastair's laughter was more brittle, his position evidently one of superiority. Of course, it was the side of him Leo had only known in the man's final hours, and yet the contrast was so striking he couldn't help but take a step back, in shock or fear he wasn't entirely sure. Then again, perhaps that had more to with the darkness encroaching from the room's expanse. "Not again," Leo muttered under his breath, the exasperation evident. It was all he could manage before the shadows engulfed him entirely, his feeble attempt to abate it in vain. The icy current felt much like drowning in a torrent of glacial water, immediately taking his breath away with its impact.
Yet the initial force was nothing compared to what would follow. As his father spoke once more so too did the murky tempest grow violent, tearing into him in some way that was impossible to describe but terrifying all the same. Not the whole mass, he just needed to be able to grasp enough as to not be swept away. At the same time, the presence from before persisted, his mind split with indecision. To heed its call or to resist the storm, the only rational decision was the latter yet his will to do so was already fading, replaced with some deeper, horrific desire. A moment passed, then another. There was no choice.
With that, Leo opened his mind to the voice and shadows, casting away his dread.
The faint whispers grew louder as Leo opened himself to them. The words they spoke were incoherent, yet the feeling they evoked could be felt loud and clear. Where people assume that darkness was evil or malevolent, this type was the opposite. It welcomed Leo quite openly, and called to him frequently. The currents were strong, and ravished his body, but no evil intentions could be found in this magic. In fact, despite the torturous situation, Leo could have sworn the magic felt...friendly?
"I see you are trying open yourself to the magic, but that isn't going to stop it from ripping your body apart, Leo." The man said. A hint of amusement could be heard in his voice as he warned the mage. "Too bad Eris isn't here to spell things out for you."
The power of the currents grew as Leo struggled to keep his body from being torn in every direction. "It seems you are going to perish before gaining anything from this journey." The dark-clad man stood up from his seat at the throne and walked down towards the orb of shadows Leo was stuck within. "Listen Boy. You WILL make it out of here if you CONTROL your fears and emotion. It really is up to YOU to get yourself out of this attain the strength WITHIN." The words that were emphasized made sense in terms of a way to get a point across, but the cantor he used was quite strange. Something more had to be to them.
