Jak checked the magazine. Only a few shots left. She'd have to make them count until she could find another weapon. She motioned to the rest to hide behind the door as she confidently strode out into the fray. There were less men than Jak thought... and it seemed that Leo was about to finish off another. Though, his attention turned to Jak for a moment, before effortlessly dodging to one side, as if he could sense Leo's motives without even seeing him. Jak didn't have much time to worry about that, however, as approaching footsteps took her attention away from what would become their main threat. A sizzle of electricity took her by surprise, sending her to her knees.
She shook the experience off as best she could, but a second strike from the baton sent her down once more. As quickly as she could, Jak flipped to her back, but found that her stolen pistol was nowhere to be found. Luckily, her attacker didn't have one either, standing over her with nothing more than a shock baton and a sinister expression. The thug moved to strike her again, but he left himself wide open: Jak's foot was quickly introduced to his groin, sending him reeling backwards. Jak used the opportunity to scramble to her feet, tackling the thug and pinning him to the ground. Jak struggled with the thug for control of the baton, as panicked cries for mercy rang in her ears.
Meanwhile...
Leonidas was good at hiding his thoughts. Perhaps a result of how long he had spent avoiding telling the truth... If it weren't for the Rousseau girl, Callahan wasn't sure if he would be able to stand on his own, right now. Callahan wasn't sure who was underestimating his opponent more: Leonidas or himself. In the end, it didn't much matter. Because Callahan was done playing fair. It no longer amused him.
After dodging away from Leonidas' attack, rather than than fighting the ancient entity, Leonidas ran. He was nowhere near as fast as he was during his days on Earthland... but he was at least more agile than Leonidas. The old bastard didn't need much. Just one miserable, unsuspecting croney and less than a minute of direct skin contact. Then he would be young again. Young enough to take down those reprobates on his own.
The thug in the rafters was just about to take his shot when Callahan placed his hands on either side of his face, eliciting a painful cry as a much more accelerated version of Callahan's ability took place. The chair was merely subsistence. It kept Callahan from starving to death. But this? It was a feast. And Callahan felt more powerful than ever before! With his dying gasps, Callahan's victim fired his rifle, sending a trail of bullets skirting past Jak's head.
Following the source, Jak was met with a sinister-looking man.
His hair was a sandy blond, and his brilliant blue eyes were full of malice and amusement in equal measure. As he picked up his fallen minion's rifle, a crooked smile of too-perfect teeth spread across half his face.
"Miss Jacqueline Lo Moreau-Rousseau!" Callahan cackled, "Welcome to the family reunion!"

Intriguing, his ability did not go deeper than the most bare of thoughts. Oh well, perhaps it was for the better. Leo dropped his previous attempts, instead picking back up the tune that had served to annoy Callahan earlier. If nothing else, irritation tended to wear away at rational thoughts, perhaps it would cause him to slip up in some way, shape, or form. His swing did not connect with the man, unfortunately, even though Callahan had been looking away. For a moment Leo pondered why that was the case, until he registered Jacqueline staring in his direction once more. That would make it more complicated, then.
Before he could follow up with another strike the man ran, although following his movements it didn't take a genius to figure out his plan. Rather than pursuing him, however, Leo turned to Jacqueline, who seemed to be struggling with a crony over the possession of a baton. Tracking their wrestle for a few seconds, he then plunged Sahizal into the man's eye, his actions falling limp with a few spasms. Unfazed, Leo addressed the officer. "Lieutenant, he can read minds. You have to close off your thoughts, separate what you're actually thinking from what you project to him. A song, a phrase, a chant, something or another like that will do." Would she be able to figure out how to do so within a short period of time? He tugged at the sleeve of his jacket, revealing a watch that had been secured above the hem, after all it would have looked rather out of place with his current attire. Just a few more minutes, that was all they needed. But buying that time seemed like it was about to get far more difficult, considering Callahan's second transformation of the day.
Yet again, a life desiccated to fuel his youth. Although it disgusted him more than being terrifying, Leo really wasn't in the mood to see it again, not used against Jacqueline nor the prisoners in the cargo container. Within a brief moment had he bent down and retrieved the pistol of the man he had first dispatched, handing it to her while his voice dropped to a mutter only detectable by the officer, so long as she did her part and did not project it to Callahan. "I'll engage him directly, hopefully you can get a few shots in while I attempt to pin him. If you need to, shoot us both, so long as it's not immediately lethal for me." He winked at the last part, although his tone held no humor in its severity.
As Callahan picked up the discarded rifle and spoke so too did Leo charge, bounding up the steps two at a time even as the now significantly younger man addressed Jacqueline. He gave the words about half a second of thought, connecting it to what the lieutenant had previously mentioned about her family, but it did not matter to him. The man was irksome, in both his arrogance and survival methods. And when he had the chance to shed the blood of those he had a distaste for without consequence, needless to say Leo had a habit of taking it.
The old man, who was not quite so old anymore... He looked so much like her father... He could have been his brother. It was only a fleeting thought, but it seemed to have caught his attention. He could read minds, that's what Leo said, and his cocksure grin and taunting invitation seemed to confirm that her thoughts were an open book to him. She gritted her teeth and returned fire, but it seemed that each time she pulled the trigger, the old man was one step ahead, ducking out of Jak's aim with relative ease. He was reading her moves. She shook her head, trying to empty her mind.
"Poor little Jules would be so ashamed of you, dear girl... A Knight, in over her head."
Her heart skipped a beat, at the mention of Julia, her face flashing in her mind's eye. Seemingly in response, Callahan's grin grew wider, as if he was just now confirming something he had long suspected. It seemed that his attention moved off of her and back to the rapidly approaching Leo, sending a volley of gunfire in his direction as he backed away towards his office. A choke point, both for Callahan, and anyone seeking to take him on. It could be a trap, or it could be a mistake. And his enemies would have no way of knowing... But from his nerve center, there was no telling what damage Callahan could do.
Jak looked around, searching for the old man's minions. Following the initial fray, and the old man's sneak attack on his own subordinate, that none of them were keen to show themselves for more than a few moments. They were calculating. Careful. Stealthy. But the scaffolding above her head was not. A creak caught her attention, though she barely had time to turn towards the sound when a bullet passed through her shoulder, sending blood splattering across the floor, looking like liquid rust against the dark stone floors.
Before he had a chance to shoot again, Jak's aim was focused on him, sending several rounds into his chest. He stumbled backwards, hitting the railing hard and sprawling over the edge, his body meeting the floor in a sickening heap. Dead. No doubt about it. Instead of checking unnecessarily, Jak looked after herself, finding that there was an exit wound, which was something of a mixed blessing. The bullet wasn't lodged in her body, but the blood was flowing more freely. She didn't have time to dress it. She didn't have time to even catch her breath. She needed to get after that psycho bastard and give him a taste of that Rousseau grit.

Oh look at that, Callahan had made the same mistake he himself had thought upon first bearing witness to the lieutenant. He was likely Fiorean, then, although in all honesty that bit of information helped little other than tracing the woman's own heritage. More importantly, it was clear that his intent was to provoke her, and based on the way he dodged her shots and it was obvious Jacqueline was unsuccessful in shielding her mind from him. It would be better for her to look away, focus on the lackeys in the room who, upon having seen Callahan's display, no longer seemed all that intent on fighting for him. How foolish they were, taking on such a master in the first place, but that was beyond the point. So long as the lieutenant had eyes on himself and the man, Leo would be unable to score any sort of hit on him, at least anything significant in nature.
Nevertheless, the man had more to say than words, it would seem, as from the rifle he had stolen was a staccato of gunfire released. Ducking out of the way of most of the spray, one projectile caught him in the arm and another in the leg, brief impacts of silver as their momentums were deflected to a degree although still passed through his flesh. A short grimace, that was all Leo gave in response, advancing further in a cleave at Callahan's left shoulder with Serenitas, and a jab at his gut with Sahizal.
It was a different sensation - not the spray of blood, however unlikely that occurrence was - that caught his attention, however. Instant recognition followed, a grin plastering his expressions although no tell of it leaked. Leo didn't even bother to look up, he knew exactly what was coming as from one of the roof's entrances a spear sailed in Callahan's direction. Trailing it by a barely perceptible amount was a stem with minuscule blue flowers attached to it, its trajectory plotted for the anullment of the first attack. And thus from the rafters did Eris drop down next to Leo, her grip curling in green as vines wrapped around Benediction and retrieved the weapon for her, whether or not it had made its mark upon Callahan.
"Nice swords," Eris remarked with a grin, although at the same time her stance dropped into one prepared for the man's next move.
His voice was quite evidently a complaint. "They confiscated mine; I'd much rather be wielding a longsword right about now."
She chuckled, before her tone fell flat. "I'm sure you apologized to him."
A somber nod answered. Of course." They offered nothing else in reunion, no inkling of a plan to their foe for nothing stated would add to that which they already knew.
Eris is shielding her mind in a similar way to Leo, though it's mostly names of plants because yeah.
Nepenthe - 3 Named after a legendary drug said to cause forgetfulness, Nepenthe takes the form of a debuff that affects Toughness and Speed, reducing the former by 22 points and the latter by 21. It can affect up to two people at a maximum range of 6 meters away from Eris, although once the debuff is applied it will not go away until its duration is up, and is inflicted via the firing of a stem of the forget-me-not flower at a target. The debuff can be inflicted within the span of 3 posts, and a 3 post duration is applied to those inflicted regardless of when they are within the technique's duration. It has a cooldown of 3 posts. For weak-minded NPCs, it will also cause them to not be able to recall their past two hours of life clearly, although vague details can be surmised.

Jak peeker her head into the shipping container, ordering Callahan's prisoners to stay hidden until she came back. Callahan had run off somewhere upstairs, with Leo and his friend quick behind him. As far as Jak was concerned, all it really meant was that the old man had nowhere left to run. So, before she followed, she grabbed the baton she had been fighting for from the nearby corpse and made her way to the stairs, vaulting over tables and caches filled with Gods-know-what, which were in her way. She had just reached the top of the stairs when Jak felt something... odd. A warmth that seemed to emanate from-
"FUCK!"
Ahead, Jak could hear the whir and hum of electricity overlaid by the pounding and banging of a door being broken down. And as the sound grew louder, Jak could feel herself getting weaker. Delilah had only lasted a few minutes, but she was human... did her Cambion lifespan give her more time? Jak only wondered this for a moment, before deciding that she wasn't in a rush to find out. The baton crackled to life as Jak pressed it directly on the collar, sending 5,000 volts of electricity surging through the metal and into her throat, frying the device and sending Jak crumpling to her knees.
"F-FUck..."
Her vision swam as a weight was lifted from her shoulders, accompanied by a resonant clunk of metal meeting metal. She stood on uneven footing, and shook her head, but rather than bringing her to her senses, it made her stumble again, barely catching herself on the railing, struggling to take in a breath. But, Jak wasn't one to give up. She wouldn't let something as minor as not being able to breathe stop her. With short, ragged gasps, she continued to move forward, using the rail to guide her towards where Leo and that other woman had been headed, positive she would be of help in the fight ahead.
Meanwhile...
Careless. He had been so very careless.
It was so rare for him to not be in control that the idea that the situation would get away from him hadn't even crossed his mind. He had been content to play with his food... but now, he realized... he must feed.
The door wouldn't hold them for long... While the locks were sturdy, it wouldn't be long before the frame buckled and Callahan would be met by an Immortal, a Rousseau, and whoever the hell the Flower Child claimed to be. He needed more time. He needed more power. And he could reduce their numbers with the same breath.
He climbed into his device for what would be the last time, preparing himself for the surge of strength he would be bestowed with. He jumped, frightened for the first time in centuries by the mere sound of someone banging at a door. With one more stolen glance to the sword by his side, Callahan pressed the ominous red button, a whir and hum of electricity filling the control room with the sound of evil incarnate.

That bastard, he slammed the door to his lair shut before they could pursue. With nothing more than a glance between them, Eris set to work undoing his fortress, flora only a hair's breadth in width snaking under the thin gap between the floor and door before thickening after the waypoint. The vines then set upon the various locks and contraptions blockading their way forward, bashing, clicking, and all other manners of force and delicacy alike being utilized, from both sides of the entrance.
Meanwhile, Leo bore witness to Jacqueline's distinct struggle, or at least he glanced over at her for all of a moment or two before something registered within his mind, an ominous familiarity pulsating from below. No, no, it couldn't be, how hadn't he noticed before? Any hope of settling the debacle with words and deception, any hope for a solution other than the most drastic option was thrown out the window at that moment, his eyes locking onto two objects, two tools that were the only things he could focus on at that very moment in time. The first was Dualist, strewn next to the body of a dead guard, the other a device identical to the one the lieutenant was struggling to remove from her own throat, secured to the lackey's belt.
Serenitas and Sahizal vanished from his grip, replaced not with his own weapon but the collar itself, weight distributed between his hands. Although his decision was made within a split second, it was not without logic or reason. After all, unlike the prisoners down below, he didn't exactly have a pressing time limit on his life, and perhaps with him chained it would ease the burden of those also connected to Callahan's nefarious device. And of course, there was also the question of the decision the man would have to make regarding whatever he either elected to or inadvertently siphon off of Leo. A subject that led back to the nature of his being itself, a life that could not exist without magic, and magic that destroyed everything it could get its shadows upon. Regardless of the fact that was simply ingrained into his subconscious, however, Leo secured the collar that emanated a low buzz and picked up his weapon, just as the door creaked open as a result of Eris's handiwork.
He charged.
There was little concern for his own personal well being put into the action, a full sprint, blade aimed directly for Callahan's heart. Leo barely even batted an eye at the man's own weapon at his side, any consequences for his impulsive move would be something to accept, worthwhile, all to stop the hellish man before him. And for that was all of his weight, power, and prowess thrown into the blow, hoping for a clean final strike that would eliminate the source of malevolence plaguing them all. Behind him, Eris advanced, her demeanor one far more composed although her magic struck all the same, attempting to restrain any ideas he had of escape, however doubtful they were to occur.
So basically Leo put on the collar. And if Callahan tries to siphon Leo's life, he's either going to get nothing or more likely, depending on what that fancy button does, a fuck-ton of his magic which is not a good thing. Godspeed to him ;)
Aggrandizear - 3 Eris's most basic technique, Aggrandizear allows her to connect to the life force of vegetation within 30 meters around her and control it to do her bidding, all extended growths having a Power, Toughness, and Speed of 30 points. Any additional effects a plant may normally have besides something considered average, the latter being thorns for example, will not be extended to that which she manipulates. Eris is capable of controlling up to 15 cubic meters of plant matter at once, with the technique having a duration of 3 posts and a cooldown of 3 posts.

Callahan watched the door intently, seeing the vines and tendrils worm their way from below and between, squirming, slithering and smashing against the door, crumpling the metal and splintering the wooden frame. Moments. Mere moments. That was all he had left. But it wasn't enough. Not by far. Those miserable cretins down below were too weak. Too frail. Their life-force wasn't potent enough. He needed more.
And as if by diabolical providence, Callahan's request was granted, a surge of power rippling through his body, unlike anything he had felt before. Trailing over the monitors, he found the source, a collar newly activated, connected to an unusual energy signature. Eschewing the rest, Callahan narrowed the focus of the machine, pulling directly from this new source. But no sooner had he done it, was the door ripped from its hinges, and the source made itself known, charging at Callahan with only a single thought on his mind, clear even without Callahan's gift: die.
Callahan reached for the sword, his movements impaired by the apparatus. He brought the weapon up in time for Leonidas' sword to piece his shoulder, pinning him into his infernal machine. The pain was unbearable. And for a moment, Callahan was sure that it was because of the sword (swords?) sticking out of him... but moreso, if felt to be emanating from the wound, itself. Not the normal feeling of rended flesh, but something else entirely... like the cut was attempting to grow and morph over the blade, only to be cut anew. But that wasn't all. There was something deeper. Darker. It was at once, familiar to Callahan, even though he had never felt this magick before. It was familiar, because it was so much like Callahan itself. It called to him. Begging for violence. For pain. It wanted to kill and maim and torture... and above all else-
it hungered.
"How... D̡E̡L̴͏͝Í̸̵C͟IO̶US̵͘̕!"
A shape cut through the light, leaving only darkness in its wake, Heven's Fallen Angel Blade cutting a swathe of darkness through the air, swiping at Leo momentarily before attempting to cut through Dualist, entirely. Meanwhile, Callahan was changing... into something less than human. His eyes seemed blinded by some unknown force, yet he stared at Leonidas as if he could see into his soul, itself. He moved not like a human, but a marionette, puppeteered by a madman: his jerking movements caused him to slither and flop from the apparatus, wielding Jak's sword in his hand.
"Mr. Aglaeca..." he spat, blood oozing from his wound, "how could you keep such w̶͔̲̼̲̗̥o̵͇̗̗͍͙͚͍͚n͇̳d͓͖̼̼͟͟͠ę̪̺͖̖̰̖͘r̸̴̨̩͚̲̣̝̠̳f̴̷̨͙u̵̧̘̰̝͇̘̫͍ͅl̟̭͕̭͙̬ͅ ̛̦͓̮͙̠̤̣͝ͅg̸̗̘̬i̷̸̱̭͕̙̙̼̳̫̺f̤̩̺͍̱̤̩̲̀͜͠t̜̭̱͔̘̯͚s̡̡̰͚͎̘̗͝ ̧̼̭͍̬́́ͅf̛̘͔r͇̯̠̮̖̹o̶̥͚̹̠̙̩m̨̱̮͕͕ ͈͍͓̰͔̥͕̩͞ͅm̢̩̲͠͞e̶̷̷̲?"

He took the bait. Leo cracked a wicked grin even as Callahan's sword moved to parry, throwing his strike off yet blood was drawn all the same. The man then took to the offense, with his attempt to crack the steel of Dualist, yet Leo drew back, avoiding the strike to his blade and instead countering it with the only other apparatus he had on him, his left arm. The darkness was tainted violet, a quality that told him it came from a source other than what he had... expected, a glance down confirming his suspicions: Callahan wielded the lieutenant's blade. Any other rationale was thrown out the window, however, as an intense, searing pain washed over him, eliciting a sharp groan as he jumped backward, landing on both feet although black specks splattered his vision.
Glancing down, he saw the blood pooling on the ground, a consistence deep crimson in hue that at once revealed the truth about himself. Yet its source was what concerned him more at that very moment, the remnant of the limb that had been struck nothing more than his shoulder. Slowly, his gaze twisted back onto Callahan, lip twitching in both agony and rage as the man rose, his single hand gripping Dualist tighter all the same. However, the man's words morphed Leo's grimace into a smirk, a maddening cackle produced from his throat that matched Callahan's tone, followed by menace. "Just wait for the fun part."
From the blackened pits of his eyes did Callahan's form begin to shift, shadowed smoke curling from his mouth as his limbs contorted into slicked onyx claws. "You're insane," Eris muttered as the man began to advance, his movements erratic yet mechanical all the same, the taint of darkness invading his mind. Leo, of course, didn't have to read thoughts to know such, even though no magic was produced from his own being the desires ran through his own consciousness, as they did all too often. It was probably amplified, though, as the abyss that had escaped its restraints only begged the rest to follow, to destroy, consume, annihilate everything in its path. Or maybe that was just his mood at that moment in time, it was always too hard to tell.
He blinked, slowly backing away from Callahan as his body succumbed to the void, arm raised as shadows began to coagulate around it. "Now we run!" Leo yelled, turning tail as he did so even as the storm called him back, Eris barely able to close the door behind him as he was unable to do so. Branches rapidly blockaded it, attempting to reinforce the wood that was already on about half a hinge, but it did little good against the coming fury. Sturdy tree limbs snapped like twigs in the face of Callahan's, no, his own power, as Leo and Eris both slowly backed away, toward the lieutenant. Their steadiness did little good, however, as Callahan quickly broke free of his prison, engulfed in obsidian light. Leo winced, sword hand reaching up toward his temple for a second as a sudden sharpness dug into his throat. "Fuck fuck fuck fuck, this was a terrible idea!"
Eris's hands performed a brief maneuver, before a brief surge of energy encompassed the area, focusing on Jak and Leo. "Yeah, it was, you idiot! He'll kill all of us before he kills himself!"
So yeah, feel free to characterize Callahan even when he was doing what he was doing in this post, I'm not entirely sure how his own persona would act so I intentionally left out any dialogue for him.
Valerianse - 3 Eris's primary healing technique, Valerianse has the capability of transferring life force from one individual to another. While she can heal anyone with this technique, and it has an AoE radius of 3 meters that only affects those she wishes the technique to, it also debuffs the person she is transferring life force from by 5 Magical Fortitude for 2 posts. This debuff does not follow the 2/3rds rule, and it must be consented to by the one receiving the debuff. Eris can apply the debuff to herself, however the individual that is more or less assisting the healing process cannot be healed during it, and must be within a 15 meter radius of Eris at the start of the technique. The spell can also be cast by touch, however in this case it can only affect up to two targets. Valerianse itself is capable of healing up to one intense wound, and has a duration of 1 post with a cooldown of 4 posts. Debuff applied to Eris.
"You and the boy are exactly alike," Callahan taunted, "So afraid of the power you hold within!"
Wood splinted and shattered away, unable to stand up to the might of Leo's unfettered power, channeled through Callahan's cruel and exacting rage. This power he felt, was exhilarating: unlike anything he had ever felt before. He needed more. But thanks to Leonidas' little stunt, his device was damaged. He would have to resort to draining his life the old-fashioned way. As the pair ran, Callahan took his time, moving deliberately, full of malice.
"So eager to run from it... because you lack the strength to b͟eǹd ͘it҉ ̕to yo̡u͜r̀ ͜w̴i̛l̷l!"
A wave of energy exploded from Callahan, directed at nothing. Metal groaned and wood splintered, as Callahan scanned the warehouse, seeing nothing.
"I can s̴͢m̕͘e̸̡l̸l it." he sniffed, "The magicks flowing through your bodies. I can s̕҉̛ee̛͘ you, more clearly than if I laid my eyes upon you."
It was Callahan's voice that brought Jak back to reality. It was his appearance that made her not entirely sure how to feel about that. He looked more inhuman than he ever had, a shambling mass of dark energy, crowned by a smile that evoked madness. But strangely, Jak decided that he preferred him this way. He was... decidedly less horrifying. Before, he could have passed for Jak's uncle, now, his only recognizably human feature was a toothy smile amidst a sea of ever-spreading black. And what's more, he was completely distracted by Leo and Eris.
Jak closed her eyes, trying to focus on something- anything- other than what she was about to do. She thought of Julie. She thought of Dalton. She thought of Nox and her parents and Rousseau Manor. But she refused to think of here. She refused to think of now. She could hear his voice. She could feel his malice. She aimed her gun, and without hesitation, pulled the trigger. Immediately, she snapped her eyes open. Immediately, Callahan's head shot back. And moments later, Jak's heart sunk to her feet. He leveled his blackened eyes at the officer, seemingly unphased by her shot... Until that damn smile spread across his face, revealing a mass of shattered teeth and oozing, black ichor where the bullet met its mark.
"Dear Jacqueline." he grinned, his teeth seeming to form themselves anew from the shattered chunks, "Poor, helpless, S̵̴T̡U̵̡P̵͘I̡҉̛͝D̷͘ girl."
"You should have run when you had the chance. Just like your ancestors before you. Because now, you've given me all that I need."
"First, I'll kill you. Then I'll kill Nox. And Dalton. And your parents. And everyone at that u̸̸şél̕͢e̡s̶̢s̛ Manor!"
"But last, I'll find her little command center. I'll destroy her little playthings. And then I'll kill the girl, as well."
Callahan raised one hand, dark energies coalescing in his palm as he leveled it in Jak's direction.
"And I'll be sure to remind her, with every bone I break... That you were responsible for a̸̡ll ̵o͟͏f ̷̢͘įt!"
As the ball of dark magic barreled towards Jak, the officer was quick to act, diving over the railing and onto the floor below, bouncing off the concrete with a painful crack. However, turning her attention to the platform above, it was clearly the lesser of two evils, as the metal seemed to have warped and dented away from the force of the explosive projectile. Meanwhile, Callahan seemed to be somewhat winded by the exertion, the dark energies surrounding his body slowly replenishing itself, attempting to consume the ancient mage once more.

Panic, yes, that was the worst thing he could do. Yet Eris's magic had done little to ablate the throbbing pain that was quickly overtaking his mind, followed up by the amplification of it from a more esoteric source. He could barely think straight, certainly couldn't conjure up a reasonable, sound plan, though he supposed he at least wasn't bleeding out, not anymore. It was a small victory, barely even worth celebrating, but there was nothing else, the only thing any of them could do was to attempt to avoid Callahan's insanity. His words, at least, led Leo to utter a mark of contempt. "And clearly you possess that strength," he responded snidely, looking him up and down as he shook his head. "Now we can't even see your wonderful face!"
Naturally, that was sarcasm. Yet his frame had contorted, the darkness that had coated his grip and obscured his vision having spread to the rest of his features, a characteristic that was fundamentally corrupted from how it would have been exhibited by its true wielder, by Leo. It was an abominable warping of magic, a monster created by the unnatural combination of two unlike elements, a tale he so deeply resonated with yet this was it drawn to the extreme, no balance struck, whether or not Callahan believed otherwise. The shadows, they would always, inevitably reign. Whispering, pulling, aching, roaring to a scream: Give. Him. More.
It was terrifying, electrifying, every emotion he tried so hard too suppress flooding back to the present in maddening force. Yes, Callahan's appearance was nothing more than deceit, he knew that now. First, the abyss had consumed his sight, and soon the rest of the man's body would be to follow. A thousand years of being caged by an indomitable prison, in freedom it craved the only thing it ever had, to ravage everything in its path, plunging all into darkness. That intent was painfully clear, at least to him, even as Callahan missed shadows lingered, devouring the infrastructure as it stood. It was not enough, though, it was never enough. What void remained trapped within himself demanded to be released, to be taken up by the man, twisting him into nothing more than a slave to its black will.
And that, that was what Callahan wanted. Leo could not deny his wish, could he? It would be terribly rude for him to, after all his presence practically seized with the desire, a hunger for power so ill-placed, but the man of course didn't know any better, hadn't wrestled with the darkness for a millennium, had perhaps a minute or two of experience at maximum. In spite of that naivety, however, there was nothing else Leo could do to mount a suitable offense against Callahan, not in his current physical state, and, more importantly, not in the mental one either. He wanted to indulge in the chaos, after all what Callahan had taken was not merely his own magic, no, it was an inseparable part of himself, no matter how smothered. The man... had only a temporary arrangement. And as it were, it was beginning to expire.
They had managed to avoid his strikes thus far, well other than the initial blow Callahan had drawn, but as soon as Jacqueline hit the bottom floor things began to take a turn for the worse. Though Leo had little grasp on what he was saying to the lieutenant, it had obviously impacted her, in one way or another. And on top of it, the discharge of her firearm had proven what Leo had hypothesized, even if they managed to land a strike shadows would simply coalesce in its place, damn, that really was annoying, wasn't it? Then, there truly was no other option. Leo and Eris stood together for a brief moment, before a horizontal blast was produced from Callahan's mouth with a cackle, splitting them apart on the playing field as he managed to vault onto another walkway, dropping Dualist in the process, while she took the low road, landing next to Jacqueline. His chance.
Leo cleared his throat, shouting at the top of his lungs. "Hey bastard! Why don't you finish off your half-assed job?"
