"The idea is...We never had a movie night, huh?~" "A...movie night...?" "Yeah, it's a thing humans do ta' relax, lookin' at good movies, or satirically terrible ones.~ I heard it's fun.~ How bout' it?~" "Is there any benefit to this course of action?" "Well, I mean, it'd be a taste of human culture for'ya ta' study.~" Laelynn shrugged, tossing a chicken bone behind her, missing the trashcan by a foot few feet. "Then yes, I am interested in this "movie night" you speak of." "Excellent!~"
"I just need'ta get more of the snacks ready an-Oh, right..." Laelynn smiled in a bashful manner, rubbing the back of her neck as she stopped herself, looking back up to the cameras that worked as P.A.L's eyes. "I forget'ya don't eat, my bad.~" Chuckling to herself, Laelynn still worked on her on accord, setting up a bag of popcorn and other various snacks.~

Prepping her popcorn, along with other snacks, Laelynn looked up to one of the security cameras, tilting her head in a playful way. "So, this would be our first movie night, any suggestions?~" "...I would wish to observe a documentary." Laelynn sighed at this, shaking her head. She should have known. "Okay P.A.L, you get to pick the first movie, but I get next, deal?" "Affirmed."
"Alright then, what's your first movie then? I'll let you do some scans and you can tell me then." "I already have one actually." Laelynn raised her eyebrows, now already suspicious and regretting her decision. "Alright then, what you got for me P.A.L?" "I found a documentary on human psychology, the premise sounds most interesting..." Laelynn only sighed at this, biting her tongue and regretting giving P.A.L first pick. "Fine then, but after that, we're watching an action movie, deal?" "Confirmed."

With the agreement made, much to Laelynn's chagrin of giving P.A.L a choice in the matter, she quickly went to work setting up the ethernet to her main monitor, and with the switch of a button, her captains seat sank down through the floorboards through mechanical means, shortly being replaced as yet more panels opened, revealing a simple, yet comfortable couch.
"Alright, game time.~ P.A.L, start it up.~" "Affirmative." Coming back from the "kitchen" area of her ship, if it even could be called that, Laelynn leaped sideways over the armrests, plopping down onto the couch with a large bowl of salted and buttery popcorn in hand, and a can of melon soda in the other. All the while, the overhead camera above shifted it's position, rotating and zooming to find focus onto the rather large screen as the first movie started up. Surely, it was a nuisance to make the first movie a documentary, but Laelynn also believed A.I. deserved equal input and right, whether that be foolish or illogical was another matter, however. At the very least, it was an educational pick.

At first, the movie was manageable for Laelynn, in fact, a bit useful if she ever found herself in a sticky situation, yet, certainly none to her interest, at least at first. As per usual, P.A.L. spent much of their time asking her inane questions on a subject she was completely in the dark about, leading to a resigned sigh most of the time. Yet strangely, those very same questions always so annoying began to become engaging, with a middle ground being formed as Laelynn began to snack more vigorously, and more open to her A.I. companions inquiries.
"Miss Morbane, this talks about nature vs nurture, but it doesn't give a definitive, absolute answer, so, which is it? Are people naturally the way they are, or is it their upbringing?" "Hell if I know P.A.L.~" Laelynn smugly replied, shrugging her shoulders and tossing a piece of popcorn into her mouth with a high trick shot. "Probably both I'd reckon if we use myself as a measuring stick." "...How so?" "I'll tell'ya after the movie P.A.L, let's just focus and learn as much as we can, ey?~" "Confirmed."
As the hours winded down, it was a quaint night among the stars, yet something Laelynn couldn't complain about. Far too often she was performing some menial task proper to her lowly rank in the I.M.G, working tirelessly on her passion of invention, or finding herself far more trouble than she reasonably should ever be in. In the end, simplicity wasn't so bad now and again, though, she still wished P.A.L. had a better taste in movies.~
Yet and still, the night went on, and finally, the documentary came to an end, Laelynn having grown wiser, P.A.L. more educated, and both having forged a stronger connection. Letting out a slight yawn, Laelynn covered her mouth, stretching out and arms raised high, fingers clenched. "Well, that was an experience, but now I'm going to show you what a real movie is about P.A.L.~ Gimme' a second.~" "Affirmative." With that, Laelynn went to work on her keyboard, debating her possible selections. After all, if it was going to be P.A.L's first fiction movie, it needed to be a good one.~
As Laelynn dug around the Ethernet deciding the proper movie, an unexpected moment occured as the ships intercom went off once more. "Miss Morbane, I believe you stated you would explain your opinion on human nature after the movie, correct?" Laelynn only sighed in response, shaking her head. She really should have never gave the option, but it was too late to go back now.~
"True enough P.A.L, that I did." Seperating herself for a brief break, Laelynn took a deep breath, contemplating the best way to phrase things. "Well, if we go by the nature vs nurture logic, it's kind of asinine. If we go by environment and upbringing, I'd probably be a criminal...or more of one at least..." Laelynn muttered the last part under her breath, a bit of regret in her tone. Sure, she had a long term record on Elseima as a thief, but she never spilled blood, she always kept herself to a standard. "Interesting...please go on..."
"Well, it's probably hard to explain to'an AI, it's more sentimental that logical..." Laelynn took a moment to collect herself, considering the best way to phrase her feelings while still remaining impartial. "Well, like, compared to nature, my mom was a super cool mage, and my dad was a hero who saved people, no matter the cost to himself.~ Meanwhile..."
Laelynn wistfully looked out to the stars for a moment, placing her hand on the poly carbon glass of her ship, looking out to the distance. "Well, I'm nothing but a nuisance.~ I don't help people, all I've really done is take and steal. Uncle Leo says my old man would forgive me...but I doubt that. I ain't a hero like them, never pretended ta'be either..." With a deep sigh of resignation, Laelynn turned her head up to the overhead camera. "In the end, I think humans are who we make ourselves to be, faults and all, not the product of genetics nor environment. If that's correct, who knows.~" Laelynn shrugged at the last part of her sentimental dribble, focusing once again on finding a proper movie to present to P.A.L.
Digging through various ethernet files, Laelynn eventually found one symbolic in a sense, yet still a comedy. "Byte Rush." A satirical comedy of a human and an AI, working together despite their zany differences to solve crime. Surely, it was a stereotypyical and overused genre, but that also was part of it's appeal.~ "I think you'll like this one P.A.L.~" Laelynn noted in a smug manner, P.A.L's overhead camera twisting in curiosity.
"Fascinating, what is the selection of media?" "Hard'ta' explain, but it's a comedy, where a special agent is paired with a newly developed A.I for a difficult investigation. Actually one of my favorites.~ It's all about contrasting differences between humans and A.I, what makes consciousness, and the like, but portrays it in an amusing way." "Interesting..."
Laelynn cuddled up into her blankets as she prepared the movie, curling herself up like a burrito as she laid down upon the improv bed couch, resting herself within some fluffy blankets. "P.A.L, can you microwave some frozen pizza for me please?" "I apologize, Miss Morbane, I am not fit for such an action." Staring up at P.A.L.'s mechanical arm, Laelynn sighed, realizing only now she didn't give P.A.L's arm much mobility.
"That's fine then, I guess..." Clicking the play button on her remote, Laelynn rested her head upon the couch pillow, yawning loudly and settling in for the night after a long, long, day of invention, chemistry, mathematics, and science. "Feel free ta' let me know what'cha' think P.A.L, I actually chose this movie fer'ya.~" "Interesting...I shall do so." "Cool, that said, let me know if the ship is on fire, I may fall asleep here..."
As the movie started in itself, P.A.L. zoomed their camera in, now quite interested at their handlers suggestion. Through the comedy, Laelynn got a few chuckles, while P.A.L seemed more and more confused. "Miss Morbane, what is the logic in this movie? If these two are so incompatible, why would they be working together?" "It's an art thing P.A.L, that's the entire point..." Yawning into her blanket, Laelynn tried her best to keep up with her inquisitive, young A.I, yet, all to end in failure.~
"Miss Morbane...?" Initially about to ask about a scene of the A.I. and human protagonist bonding, P.A.L had checked his sensors, revealing what was easily discernible to the human eye. Curled up in her blanket, lightly breathing, and drooling over her pillow, Laelynn had fallen fast asleep, completely exhausted from her heavy day of scientific work. After all, despite her genius and willpower, she was a mere adolescent who needed her rest. "I see..." Despite Laelynn's thick blanket, P.A.L's next function detected her body heat was below the healthy amount for a human, immediately causing concern, or at least the equivalent of it for P.A.L.
With their limited arm reach, P.A.L struggled to flex the joints of their robotic, ceiling bound arm, eventually grasping a blanket from atop the coach and gently draping it over Laelynn. "Goodnight, Miss Morbane..." Whispering to themselves, as to not wake her, P.A.L. lowered the volume of the movie and zoomed in, both learning of human culture, and keeping a vigilant, protective eye over their creator. Maybe in some sense, Laelynn's time teaching P.A.L of human values weren't truly in vain, but that was just another day in the life and times...of Laelynn Morbane.~
