Brave Galaxy is set in a world loosely based on Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail and Eden’s Zero. It is a PG-13 or so rated space fantasy RP, and uses a combination of character statistics, which can be acquired via roleplaying and events, and creative freedom to help direct players’ characters. While there is a main storyline, which can be found in the events section, characters are free to interact with others and their environment however they see fit.
Explore the galaxy. Overcome the obstacles in your path. Shape the future of humanity.
Unlike some criminal enterprises, The Acquisition Department does not have any ambition to create an empire. Instead, they have worked in the shadows for centuries, acting as a reliable "Criminal-for-Hire" service for anyone willing to pay for it. The organization sees themselves as a criminal counterpart to the mercenary group, IMG, looking to accept any contracts which are deemed unsuitable to that group's intended purpose. Since the expansion of IMG into some criminal enterprises, the Acquisitions Department has formed an intense rivalry with both the Smuggler's Branch and Thieve's Branch of IMG, who they see as their direct competition, often resulting in the organizations attempting to poach contracts from each other.
The Acquisitions Department have also been sought out, directly, for many illicit purposes by criminal syndicates who wish to avoid involving their own men (or mercenaries associated with IMG) in the contracted activity. Though the location of the group's main headquarters is a closely guarded secret, anyone seeking to enlist their services can find them via the Ether-Net and several outposts and contacts throughout the galaxy: their establishments often marked with imagery of Corvid birds, including crows, ravens, rooks, jackdaws, jays, and magpies, as a symbol of the organization (and their purported origin in a Mage's Guild from Earthland).
Acquisition Department outposts exist in many major hubs of criminal activity, often using back-alley shops or seedy bars as an access point to hidden offices where members can accept jobs, seek assistance or turn in completed assignments. These outposts vary greatly in appearance and quality, due to the secretive nature of the organization requiring them to eschew traditional locations. It is not uncommon for Acquisition Department bases to be constructed in basements, bunkers, abandoned warehouses and are often hidden behind secret passages requiring passcode phrases or specialized keys in order to enter.
There are many jobs which The Acquisition Department have taken, in the past, spreading more and more into a wider range of illegal dealings, including:
Theft
Smuggling
Forgery
Fraud
Espionage
Arson
The organization's leadership seems to be averse to active violence, preferring to accept contracts which can be completed without armed conflict. Likewise, members of the organization are advised to avoid conflict, when possible. Violence is not expressly forbidden, though it is generally frowned upon by many members of the organization. Instead, members are encouraged to think outside the box, using trickery, subterfuge and bribery to achieve their goals. However, on some missions, combat is expressly forbidden, due to the sensitive nature of the request
Low level members of the organization are often treated as go-fers or scapegoats. Only by proving themselves can they gain the respect of their superiors. Until then, D-Class members often fight themselves the short ends of the stick, often having to be taken under the wing of a higher-ranked member in order to gain some level of protection from hazing and harassment. Almost universally, the "Magpies" are not referred to by their true code-name, but rather "Maggies", "Maggots", "Sweetbirds" or "Picas", names which often come with an air of derision and disrespect. However, this is generally considered as "nothing personal" with members who find their way out of the lowest rank of the Acquisitions Department being welcomed as equals by their peers, almost without question.
Ranks: Owing to their supposed nature as the remnants of a broken guild of old, ranks within the Acquisitions Department follow theming of mischievous blackbirds, particularly ones which make a habit of acquiring valuable things.
D: Magpie
C: Jackdaw
B: Rook
A: Crow
S: Raven
