Anatomy & Racial DetailsHumans have not changed much in the last 1000 years. Featuring four limbs, rounded ears, and soft skin, they seem to have the least distinctive traits of all sentient life in the galaxy. They possess no special affinity for magic, with only one tenth of their population having access to this power. And while this may seem to be a disadvantage, it seems there is some inborn determination in humans that allow them to overcome this minor setback and become powerful warriors and leaders, in their own right. Certain features are basic to a human, though due to magical influence throughout their lifetimes, these features may vary from the norm.
On average, a Human will have a few basic rules, regarding their appearance, not stated above.
- Eyes: Human eyes tend to favor a few common colors, though others are possible, often relating in some way to magical influence. Common eye colors include brown, blue and green.
- Skin: Human skin is soft, covered in a sparse layer of body hair. Humans skin comes in many colors, ranging from pale to dark, though vibrant colors, such as blue, green and red are entirely unheard of.
- Hair: Human hair is normally a single color, though it is not uncommon for different hues to naturally occur. Common natural hair colors include red, brown, black, blonde and grey.
It is known that Humans are biologically compatible with many (if not all) non-human races, and as such, it is not uncommon for people to be a mixed race of human and another race, such as demons, elves or extra-planar beings.
Culture & Government
Humans have a long, storied history of exploring the unknown. Their naturally inquisitive nature had led them to explore all corners of their planet in an attempt to see and understand everything that they could. And then, because they were there, the humans would go on to colonize, spreading their influence as far as they feasibly could. Due to this, they are often not defined by their surroundings, as some other races tend to be, and instead, have a strong honor for their history as well as the advances they have made throughout the eons. These advances are often fueled by their desire to explore and adventure, with the tools, clothing and even their kinship with non-sentient beings, seems to be derived, in part, as a means to better acclimate themselves to unfamiliar surroundings. Thus, humans, as a race, pride themselves in their adaptability and ingenuity above all else.
That being said, due to this aspect of their nature, it seems like very few humans are alike in their traditions, government, or even their history. Some focus on logic and invention. Others favor heart and determination. There are even humans who prioritize greed and social status. All are completely commonplace, to the point that some other races are slow to trust them, due to this level of unpredictability.
HistoryLong before The Blight forced man to flee the planet, there was but one home for humanity: Earthland. Humans were one of the dominant species of the planet, who lived in continent-spanning civilizations. They were one of the first sentient races to discover magic, a force which seemed to derive from the planet, itself. Through intense training, those with natural attunement to magic were able to perform nigh-impossible feats. But such power was bound to bring conflict, amongst those who wielded it, and those who could not. Partly due to this, a conflict arose between two human nations, ending when a rogue colonel unleashed a deadly plague upon Earthland in the form of "The Blight."
It ravaged the world, destroying all in its path, indiscriminately. Rather than submit to their fate, the humans, true to their nature, refused to give up. The nations of Earthland banded together, combining magic, technology and raw manpower in order to find some way to combat the disease ravaging their planet. And while there were massive leaps in technology, it seemed that The Blight was far too powerful. And thus, fifteen years passed, with no hope in sight that Earthland could be saved from this deadly disease.
So, instead, mankind fled Earthland in massive colony ships, designed to find a new home for humanity. Though some ships were lost, the people of Earthland endured, finding a new home, in a galaxy which sat one thousand years away from their doomed homeworld. And true to their nature, the industrious humans spread out amongst the planets, therein, covering their new home in settlements, booming with trade, industry and life.
